The importance of Adverts

On a commercial basis, adverts play the most vital role in the success of a brand and/or products. Adverts are at the forefront of a businesses produce and they must be completed in a way that will attract not only their target audiences, but also attract potential new customers as well as maintaining a healthy budget and ticking off all the correct boxes. I personally look to adverts before buying a product, I believe if a brand has gone above and beyond to advert and market their product, they must be very passionate about it.

Adverts are no longer paper based or on billboards. Digital age means adverts are now distributed worldwide on the internet for more people to see. Facebook has one of the largest social media accounts that are active, brands use these new forms of free advertisement as a big plus and will exploit every aspect to gain maximum reach.

I love seeing adverts on social media and I really enjoy seeing Video adverts too. I also think the muse plays a huge part in the success of adverts and sales, if you used a celebrity such as Jennifer Lawrence for instance, not only are you reaching the target audience of your brand but you also reach out to further afield and start to gain more customers through a celebrities fan base.

There are many aspects that play in creating a great advert, designers don't just take an image from a photographer stick a few products on and send it off to print, the research and effort that goes into this vital image is extensive. Designers will have to think of possible cultural effects, such as certain terminology being seen as offensive, images may be seen as offensive in different cultures and religions and in many cases this hasn't been done, look at Tom Ford for instance, his images are very sexually explicit which offends a large amount of people who will end up coming across the image online or in a magazine. However, we can not please everyone and with very strict but vague advertising rules, the creations are endless.

I enjoy putting together adverts and I like to test layouts, fonts, colours, borders and much more but I am really bad at it, I have a vision in my head of how I would love them to turn out and it never does, so I think this is something I would like to learn more about!
