Reflective diary 12/04/16
The excitement and fast paced start of a new project meant I didn't take in all the information and requirements for this project, and now we are coming towards the end of the semester and deadline day is soon approaching, I am panicking. I have been reminded by a fellow student, Thank god, that we are required to use a minimum of three models for our shoots, I have planned to use just one, as it's very difficult finding someone who will be dedicated to your project.
I have managed to find one more model so far, who will be modelling for my advertisement images, but due to my ideas for the shoot, and the colour of my models hair which will be covered using a red wig, I am in the process of changing and reworking the idea slightly.
So, as of today, I have two models, Georgina for my catwalk and editorial, and Siobhan for my advertisement. I have made the decision to keep Georgina for my editorial as the images go hand in hand with her appearance, which is a crucial element to the success of my work. I am trying to find another model, possibly male, who could do a shoot for my catwalk images, meaning I have scraped the bare minimum for the model count, which I am ashamed about but I can't change that now.
I am extremely angry with myself for getting into this situation but the good thing is, it's a learning curve, I now know to keep checking I am meeting every requirement early on, to avoid this situation again.
One other negative thing I want to reflect on is my catwalk images. I love following students work, whether on instagram or facebook, so after seeing their posts on the catwalk images they have produced, I am unhappy with mine in a certain aspect. I fully stand behind my concept and execution (could have done the tight lining a little better on the right eye, although I think the gap is a reflection of the light) I am unhappy with how I shot my images. I thought using a studio was best, and when the white background wasn't working for me, I switched it up to a dusty pink, however, seeing others work, they haven't used studios but have taken the image in the make up rooms, which make the images look more 'backstage'. My images look as if they are taken with a backdrop, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as this happens sometimes during fashion week/shows, but I much prefer their background and backdrop. Unfortunately, I have no time to correct mine and reshoot, so again, another learning curve!
